Bad electronic Mojo

I think my house is built on the ancient burial ground of consumer electronics of the ancient days. So far this past week the microwave died - the light goes on but nothing is cooking. Then the geezer gave up it's life and we had to get it replaced (and now we can only get chocolate coloured hot water) then in the processof the geezer leaking, dying, being removed and being replaced, the lighting wiring got wet and now half the lights in the house don't work. Then I have a light plugged into the wall and the fluorescent energy light bulb when sizzle sizzle POP! which stinks like the armpit of a truck-driver-hobo. and noW!!!the electric gate motor has died!

That is some bad consumer electronic mojo... I had better go isolate my computer and cellphone. Ill go live like the Mountain people.

let's not talk about the fact that Im a BSc Elec Eng... gimme a transmission line anyday!

The little things

Its funny how some things make you jealous for weird reasons...

My friend had a baby last week. I was her friend like 10 years ago and we have hardly spoken since thenbut of course duly became Facebook friends (of course to stay in contact without actually having to speak to each other) And so I was peering at her photos of her new baby. It was all pink and wrinkly and covered in blankets and now the grren eyed monster is sitting on the corner of my desk What exactly Im jealous of Im not sure because (With all due respect to the lovely new mum) I don't want a baby and I don't really like children.

Perhaps Its like the look of achievement (look what I made ha ha) or the novelty of a perfectly formed little creature. Maybe I would be jealous if it was a kitten (but not a puppy - puppies are too smelly and full of slobber)

Go away Green eyed monster I haven't time to be melancholy - My fault for browsing FB when I should be doing work ha ha

Spending Spree!

So I got paid and then I also got PAID. ie both work and my investment paid out so so far today I hvae bought:

a tshirt
a blouse
two pieces of lovely "unmentionables"
a Cinnabon (R)
a cup of coffee
a cute vest for wearing over a shirt at work
a card for Jo's birthday
a 17 today badge for Jo (Ha ha ha and Im gonna make him wear it!)
some face wash
and two thirds of a Toyota Tazz

and now my account limit has been maxed out!

... sigh I need to slow down and same some money for the rest of the month... but for now the new clothes feel fabulous!

another Friday at home

The work week has come and gone and as busy as I am during the week in the evenings I always land up being at home on friday nights. And tonight... I don't really want to be here.

I watched the chick flick movie last night The Wedding Date and when it ended - happily as usual - I was struck by this wave of loneliness. and for the first time in a while I really don't want to be alone. I want look forward to the weekend and dress up and be adored on the weekend. Normally Im glad to be a social outcast and it's a pain to try balance all the different groups of buddies (yip I am just that popular)

But tonight - I have the fact Im at home alone oh wait make that Im at home with my parent woo hoo "Fraa-aan-ces What you doo-ooing?" Ok it's not that bad but still Im almost 24, independant, earning packets of money and the best I can do is an evening with my parents!!! sigh... Im going to go watch Must Love Dogs now.... another happy ending... Yuck!

Frankies Travels - The end...

So after a week and a bit break I am back on my blog. Internet was terribly expensive oh wait scratch that. as expensive as everything else in italy. and I was like busy seeing really really old stuff and things okay?

I think I will blog all the juicy info about my glorious Italy trip but not right now.

However right now I am sitting in a little computer room in the Dubai international airport paying a pretty price for internet and after 9 days away only 3 new emails!!! I am heartbroken.
I still have some dirhams left so I am going to go spend some money in the airport woo hoo for giant size boxes of cheap cigarettes and overpriced designer clothes. wait I don't smoke... hmmm...


See most of you sooon! I am quite homesick.. but in a nice way :)

Frankies Travels - Last day in Dubai

my Christmas was somewhat unauspicious... I (we) think it probably is because the usual build up to Christmas was some what overshadowed by the build up to travelling overseas. Ill have to enjoy the January blues with everyone else waiting for the glorious first payday of the year. oh wait First Pay Day EVER EVER!!! nice... :D

So today we pretty much spent the day washing clothes and packing. We did at least start the day with opening presents. I recieved a peace bracelet and a stunning gold necklace from my parents. I really wanted a necklace like that and I now have one... Yaay! it is super thin and is really subtle and pretty but sadly fragile and hence the demise of the previous gold necklace.

I also finally made dinner for Brian. Minute steaks, potato and salad Yummy! and now I wanna sleep instead of finish packing. I have a kinda problem where I dunno how I am gonna get all my curios home and still remain within the luggage weight limit... oh oh...

I have that weird sadness feeling of leaving Dubai but trhen my holiday is only halfway thru so I am excited too so I am flipping between melancholy and super excitement. Im flippen excited just for the next flight. Whoosh! I love flying! except for the 5 hours of cramped legs between taking off and landing. That bit is pretty horrible. ha ha at least I have a window seat again!

anyway back to the packing gotta be up at the crack of dawn to get to the airport on time. I hear early mornings are the standard on a Contiki tour :S gonna suffer that one... All that is left to say is....

Frankies Travels - Second last day in Dubai

woke up early to see the building surrounded in mist

slept late

ate breakfast in my pj's

went to the other side of town for lunch

ate all you can eat seafood with brians friends

tried a lot of new fish for the first time

red snapper is tasty

went shopping

more wandering around mall of emirates

some people are hard to shop for

you know who you are

got stuck in a traffic jam

saw three car accidents in traffic jam

went to christmas eve service

sang christmas songs

pondered the real meaning of christmas

got stuck in traffic jam again

ate late supper

picked olives out of pizza supper and salad supper

talked to brians friends

wished everyone happy christmas after midnight

went home

no traffic jam

shower

crash - sleep

HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS TOMORROW!! Ill be eating waffles for breakfast! I hope Brian likes his presents.... I will be missing my family while they all having christmas lunch together. :( But then I am overseas instead for the first time in my life :D
